Software-Instrument Midi Channel select for Kontakt2

Hy Guys

Know its a rookie-qustion but if I open up kontakt 2 player in a software-instrument and load up for example 2 or 3 instruments in it, how do i select the different midi channels than in the software-instrument? i know i can change the midi channels at the instrument settings but then i only can choos channel 2 or 3 but i want to trigger seperatetly the midi channels inside the kontakt 2 from one software instrument.

Thanks if you know the solution...

You have to setup a Multi Instrument in your environment and cable it to the Software Instrument with the Kontakt player. Open environment (command+8)->Midi Instruments->create multi (name the muloti e.g. "my Multi"->tick all the channel boxes so the crosses dissappear->alt+click on the cable->menue opens->select destination (Software Instr.)
In the Arrange "My Multi 1-16" is now available as an Instrument to choose from
The Software Instr. with Kontakt has to be set to "Midi Channel all" so it can receive channels 1-16

Hi SampleConstruct,

I say your reply in a post on the discussion board, and was hoping you might be able to help me set something up. You seem to know the midi setup in the environment quite well. I have two controllers. One is via Midi, one is USB. I would like them both to be able to "play" different software instruments in Logic 8. For example, assign midi keyboard controller 1 to a piano software instrument, and then assign USB controller keyboard to a string patch. And be able to play them at the same time... accessing the two independent software instruments inside the mac at the same time. and record both. Finally, be able to switch the String patch on controller 2 to maybe an organ or something.

Do i have to set up midi channels for each "software instrument" so it knows which keyboard controller is accessing which? Really hoping you can help me here.
