Squeaky Mighty Mouse

Yes, that's right...my brand new Mighty Mouse squeaks. Before anyone makes the lame comment, yes, I tried feeding it cheese.

It's obvious that the sound emanates from the single button and the plastic side buttons. I've read about several other users that have had problems with Mighty Mice on forums, but thought I'd check here before calling tech support.

Anybody else having this problem and if so, do you have any suggestions for fixing.

Thanks!

I just purchased the mighty mouse and seem to have the same problem. The last time i had an apple mouse was when the Cube came out and it squeeked as well--but not nearly as much. it drives me nuts!
I was thinking that maybe you could oil it but i haven't really spent the time to figure out how to take it apart and put it back together.

sorry that i don't have an answer, but i hope that one will appear soon.

Hey guys,

To stop the squeaking of the mouse follow these steps:

1. Turn the mouse over
2. Put your finger nail, or something else thin and hard, in the gap between the base and the shell near the wired part of the mouse.
3. Gently pull as if prizing the base away from the shell

You may hear a click, you may not. This solved the problem with my mouse - it seems to be a build error!

I hope this helps,
Martin
