I am running Windows XP Media Center edition and Itunes 7.4.3.1. When I plug the Itouch into the USB port, it starts charging but does not show up in Itunes. I seem to have traced the problem to the fact that the "Apple Mobile Device" services is not started. When I try to start it (through "services.msc") it gives me an error message saying something like "The service turned on but then turned itself off.....". No matter what I do it won't let me start the service again. How do I start the service? I think if I could start it then Itunes would recognize the Itouch.

    Try this:

    start/run/type: msconfig
select Services tab, either do ALL services or non-Microsoft services, and tick box then re-start. Just say yes to the prompt that comes up about things being changed. Maybe that will help activate this Apple service?
