MyBook Memeo & TimeMachine

I have a 1TB External HD called MyBook by Memeo. I have to format it because it is not in Mac OS X Journaled Extended. I started the format in the disk utility & the progress bar is doing the barber shop pole thing and a phrase next to it is saying: "partition size not a multiple of 4k" and nothing is happening. What is going on and how can I fix this?

Mac OS X (10.5)

I have the EXACT same problem here also with a My Book 1TB.

If I select a FAT32 format, it will work and the drive will mount correctly. But I can't use Time Machine on a FAT32 filesystem. And no matter which Apple filesystem I use (Extended journaled or not and case sensitive or not), I have this exact barber shop running forever with the 4k message.

The problem is the same either through a firewire or a USB2 connection.
I'm on Leopard.

Any idea, someone? Or did I buy this backup drive for nothinig?

I selected the ooption to write zeros.

It went writing 0 for 9 hours straight and at the very end, Disk Utility crashed and I'm at the samepoint as before...

BTW, when I restart Disk Utility via a command line, I get the following errors:

I will restart the 9 hours Disk Utility zero writing and try to get the crashing info at the end...

Solved!

Install MacDrive 6 on Windows
Format it as Mac OS Extended Journaled
Connect it to your Mac
Your Mac will then reformat it

Now my hard drive is clean and clear and working & time machine works too! The error was happening because Time Machine had no place to save its info. As long as Time Machine has no backup location, it won't open.
