Hi everybody. I have an iMac G5 and am currently running Tiger 10.4.10. I ran the Screen Spanning Doctor so that I could extend my desktop to a second monitor (because this functionality is by default disabled on the PowerPC iMacs, even though the graphics cards are fully capable). This is a firmware modification, so even when I boot to a fresh install of Tiger, I can still span the two screens.
My question is, does anybody know, if I re-format and install Leopard, if I'll lose my ability to span two screens? I would like to switch to Leopard, but if I can't use my second 22" monitor then it's not worth it.
Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.
John

as far as I know, SSD flashes the firmware of the graphics card, and makes no change to any software. Thus, reformatting the hard drive will not disable your screen spanning.
Personally, I'd wipe the drive, install 10.5, and see if it works. Worse case scenario is you reinstall 10.4 after playing around with 10.5 for an afternoon.
I installed screen spanning doctor in Tiger on my iBook 1.33 last model. I installed leopard. SSD resets the firmware in the graphics card that Apple disabled. Screen Spanning does work on my computer with no problems with leopard.
