I am in need of a Novell client for OS X. I am aware of the Prosoft client but I would like to explore other options. Also I do not want to make any changes to my Novell file/print servers.
LOL...You should be me. Frustrating is an understatement. I will eventually change the world in which I live. Some people are slow to change though. The Prosoft client is probably the best avenue but its is just a little pricey. Thanks for the help OZ.
I use the Prosoft client to connect to a Novell network. Novell does provide native mac OS X connectivity in newer versions. I think post 6.5. The tech support guys for the network I connect to are unwilling to install software to allow me to connect. I had to buy the Prosoft client. I have spent years trying to figure out why the techs are so hostile. They simply will not entertain any discussion of Macs on the network. It's strange since they say they spend so much time fixing machines which have been compromised by viruses and spyware.
What version of Novell is installed on the network you want to connect to?
The only client for mac I have found is the Prosoft client, but it is very pricey ($149US). Currently I run windows xp on parallels and have downloaded the free Novell Client. I get the functionality of any windows user, being able to browse all the netware shared files. If you don't have parallels or winxp then the price of buying these would exceed the Prosoft client price, but I think the advantages of having windows to run those windows-only programs are worth it.
