Composite A/V Cable vs Component A/V cable

Question 1: I know the difference between the cables, but the question is, can the ipod (classic) even output at a high enough resolution for the component cable to even be neccessary?

I will agree that the component cable will send a cleaner signal, but if I'm just using this cable for when I travel and visit family (to show pictures and videos) I'm thinking composite is the way to go since I would expect many people have all their component connections tied up by dvd players, video game systems, etc. But composite connections seem to be available a-plenty for most folks. I wished that the composite cable was cheaper since its a lesser quality connection.

Question 2: does Apple sell just an audio cable that uses the dock connector (instead of the headphone jack)? I couldn't find one.

N/A

Hey Karajabola,

1. With a component cable the iPod classic can output 480p.

2. Apple does not make an audio only cable but there is one on the Apple online store, Belkin Mini Stereo Cable.
