SSL Duende

Is anyone else have problems with Duende under Leopard?
I get nothing but static whenever I load any of the plugs.

Thanks

I had nothing but great things to say about my Duende until my upgrade to Logic Studio & Leopard on a new Quad Core Mac Pro.
So now, all my mixes which used Duende in Logic 7 on my G5 are trash on the new platform. Amazing, since I have a lot of hardware and plugins here, and everything works fine except for Duende. Old mixes that do not use Duende are fine. On mixes that use Duende, the minute I bypass Duende (Logic's Bypass, not Duende's), everything clears up.
So. What are the possibilities?
1) it could be a setting in Logic 8 that I am not aware of (there's lots that's different in Logic 8)
2) it could be that the Duende 2.2 driver is crap in Leopard
I am inclined to think it's #2

A hah! Just visited SSL's site.
"There is currently a compatibilty issue with Duende in Mac OS 10.5 - Leopard. This issue manifests itself as fast audio drop-outs over tracks processed by Duende plug-ins. SSL will provide a fix for this as soon as possible. We recommend using Mac OS 10.4.10 which has been tested succesfully with Duende v2.2 software until the issue is resolved."
Not a problem. Duende is good enough to wait for the fix. In the meantime, my old mixes are mixed, and I am forced, at least for the moment, to MOVE ON.... 🙂

I know SSL duende doesn't work in 10.5, but does anybody have it working on a Mac Pro 8 or 4 core, running Logic and 10.4.10?

According to SSL's website the duende won't work on a Mac Pro 4 or 8 core, but from some of your setups, it seems people here have it working on their Mac Pros?

I want o purchase a duende to run on my Mac Pro with Logic, I just want to make sure it is compatible before I hand over my hard earned money!!!

it's only my opinion, but firewire interface is not good for using DSP cards... they run like a half speed of Gigabit ethernet...
and the Gigabit ethernet gives a lot of latency ....
Did you tried to use Logic Node?

it works fine but you will too much latency in order to use it in "Live mode".

Absolutely a better move, without question! The main reason for it is that Duende uses Firewire, UAD uses internal bus, so it keeps your Firewire bus open and free.

The 2 UAD cards is perfect, it's what I do. The 88RS can do 20 plugs per card. So it beats out Duende hands down.

I can't compared Neve 88RS to Duende: 1- I don't have Duende, 2- different hardware emus 🙂

Compared to LiquidMix, Liquid Mix's EQ and Compressesor emus for Neve are very good, but no 88RS emu so hard to compare. However, of the plugs that match up the UAD is better.

That Neve 88RS channel strip is truly phenomenal.
