disappearing problem of the character palette window

Hi.
I want to input the special character.
Therefore I selected the menu 'Finder'-'Edit'-'Special Characters'.
After selecting the menu, the palette window appears in my screen.
But, I can't see anything in the palette window.
And the palette window disappears after appearing.

How can I resolve this problem?

I don't have a problem but I do have the Character Palette and Keyboard viewer available under a flag on the menu bar as well as under the edit menu.
Set up in System prefs > International > Input Menu. Tick the Character Palette and keyboard viewer if you wish and then tick the show Input menu in Menu Bar.
With any luck it may just remind Leopard to show the Character palette when asked.
