HP DeskJet F4180

Just got my new HP Deskjet F4180 printer, but the install package on the CD, or the same package on HP's website won't work in Leopard. Does anybode else have this problem? Or a solution? Apparently the HP drivers are embedded with Leopard, so the printer function works, even though the installer crashed. But all the functionality with the Photosmart software is missing. (ie I can't use the scanner)

Anybody got an idea how to fix this?

iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Macbook Pro and iBook G4

If you go on the Hp.com website, you can download the software and drivers separately.
I tried on my new iMac, but there were download errors, so I had to download the mac file on my XP laptop (terrible, I know) and transfer it on a RAM stick and install it.
It worked though, installing the software you want and would get on the disc, and it all works fine.

I had the same problem as you and have spent a few days re-installing the disc and having the crashes and errors, but i assure you, this works!

Hope you get it sorted out!

Im having bother downloading the package for the F4180 for Mac as well.

Also it still says beta and have been onto hp but they just say wait. This was a launch product for Leopard, it said it worked right out of the box! I never installed mine yet on my Mac and I got it at Xmas (the Mac and the F4180)

I now want to install it but still see its v9.7 Beta.

Whats the procedure when I eventually get the Mac download? do you install the s/ware 1st then plug in the USB lead?

Also does everything work with the v9.7 beta? ie scanning, printing etc? whats the package fror it like?

cheers

Yea, I'm having the same problems. I'm ready to return this **** printer. I asked the guy at BEst Buy if it would work with leopard 3 times and he said yes yes Yes, and of course it doesn't. The software on HP won't download on my mac. Won't even open the page where the download is. I tried downloading the "update" for Leopard but to no avail. Nothing is working and I have no PC to download the software and transfer.

What to do?

Ughh! This printer is horrible. I'm about ready to throw it out my window. I have downloaded and installed the driver from HP's website about 5 times and I'm still having problems with it printing. So, I'll send a document to print and it will start printing the file than not even half way through it just stops printing. Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? The driver I installed is the latest version for the OS system I am on.

I'm having the same problem using an eMac/10.4.11.. It prints half a page and then just stops. No error messages appear. If you try to print again it just spits out the page that was stuck and that's it. Scanning and copying works though. Have de- and re-installed drivers a million times. Anyone have any ideas?
