Akai MPD24/ Midi controller question

Basicly. Ive got got logic express 7 installed on my mac, i was planning on buying a midi controller, Probably the akai MPD24 or maby a cheapish midi keyboard.

My question is, will i be able to use this with logic express 7 to trigger my own samples and drum hits that i have on my mac?

If some one could please help me it would save me alot of time and possibly money.

Thanks alot, Safron.

The answer is.... Yes!

I have a USB Korg Kontrol49 that is recognized and configured automatically.
You can ovveride the Logic mode and customize it as you like.

If the controller that you wish to buy is described in the document http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/ControlSurfacesSupport.pdf then it will be recognized otherwise you'll have to assign the pads, faders etc. manually.

cheers

Rowan,
Welcome to the forums.
I'm by no means a veteran, but I can tell you one thing that you'll get around here is "Search the forums"

I have the MPD24, and I love it.

Midi controllers and Samplers are two different beasts all together.
The MDP24 is a CONTROLLER. Your best bet is to go to the Akai MPC forums etc. I see this question asked there alot.

The best tool IMO is NI's Battery. It works well with the MPD24. There are NO sounds inside the controller. It's just a liason between your fingers and samples inside of your hard drive.
