iTunes could not connect to the iPhone error 0xE8000025

When I try to connect my iPhone to iTunes, I get an error message that reads: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "Jana's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000025)"

I read that having the apostrophe in my iPhone name may be causing the trouble, but since I can't see the iPhone in iTunes, I don't know how to change the name (if this is indeed the solution). I have iTunes version 7.4.2. However, photos that I have on my iPhone have been able to be downloaded into iPhoto (version 7.1).

In the past, I have connected my iPhone to another computer and been able to sync everything without trouble.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I also received this error, unfortunately before I could set it up or sync it, so I have no access to a reset. Anyone have any ideas? I've already removed the SIM card, restarted iTunes, removed the iPhone from the cradle, etc., multiple times. It has already recognized the phone once, so I know it's capable of it, but I don't know why it suddenly decided it couldn't manage it.

I have the same problem out of the box. After a few attempts I can get it to recognise the phone, and some things sync ok but music sync makes iTunes crash even with just 10 songs to sync.
Even when iTunes recognises the phone, if I eject it and plug it back in, iTunes crashes. I have done the 'reset all settings' as suggested but it is the same.
My powerbook G4 has 2 USB 1.1 ports, but the phone does exactly the same thing when I plug it into my girlfriend's MacBook Pro Core Duo which has USB 2.0 ports.
Maybe I should take the phone back to the store?

I got exactly the same problem last night. I tried a couple of things but I think this is what finally sorted it.

I unplugged the iPhone, then rebooted by PC. I then opened iTunes. I then connected my iPhone USB cable to a different port (it was connected via a hub - I chose a port directly on my PC, and not the one that the hub was connected to). I then connected my iPhone and I was rockin and rollin.

No problems since (fingers crossed).

I encountered the same error when trying to activate my phone. I tried a couple of different things to fix it, but what finally did the trick was deleting my iTunes preferences. (users/library/preferences) After that restart the computer, launch iTunes and reconnect the phone. Hope that works for all who experience this error!

I get this same problem on my Intel 24" iMac. I'm connected via USB through the new apple keyboard. This problem always happens if my computer's display is off (it never goes to sleep) and I plug in my phone. I've found that it only sometimes gives this error when the display is on. I can consistently fix the problem by closing iTunes and re-opening it (restart of computer is not necessary for me).

This problem doesn't come up at all when the USB cable is plugged directly into the main computer's USB ports (on the back).
