How do I enable the delete key in Finder ?

As subject says,-- the Delete key was working in the builds before the final so it must have been some changes made.

It´s strange that through Keyboard Shortcuts I can map for example F13 to delete files&folders, but the Delete key seems to be a dead key.

I have just installed an earlier Leopard build and can confirm that the Delete key deletes files on Desktop and in Finder in this build.I don´t know why this is "disabled" in final version of Leopard.

I´m sorry for asking such a NO-NO question, The question should have been: How do I re-map Command + Delete to Delete key. As for it to be risky: There is a couple of hundred million Windows users using the Delete key, if mac users having problem with this, - make it a hidden choise.

in previous builds I just highlight a file and press the delete key to send the file to trash

I'm a bit fuzzy on what you are looking for.
To send items displayed in Finder windows to the Trash, highlight them and press the key combination Command + Delete. Or Right Click over an item and choose Move to Trash.

This has definitely never been the case. Command-delete moves a highlighted file to the Trash and always has.

I would assume this is a programming error which has been subsequently corrected, since the 'delete without command' facility has never been available in any final Mac OS - nor should it be, as it's a bit risky.

Actually there is a delete key (radio button) for the finder now and was in tiger.

Go to View/Customize Tool Bar/Select the No Entry Sign and drag to the Tool Bar job done.

So now highlight any file you want moving to the trash press n entry sign gone!

I could not comment on the test builds of Leopard for the seed program, but I have never known the Delete key for a retail version of Mac OS X to function the way you describe.
