Cannot add a folder for desktop images in Leopard

When clicking the + button in System Prefs...Desktop, instead of adding the folder I selected, it added a duplicate entry for Aperture Projects. Subsequent attempts to add the folder give an error stating it is already there. Nothing seems to fix this problem.

Evidently there is a strange bug involving Aperture, iPhoto and custom folders in Screensaver. See this thread:

Several people had success by deleting the plist files involved and the simply launching iPhoto and letting it create an iPhoto Library. After that they were able to add their own choices.
