I am SO relieved it's not just MY problem. From reading the length of this discussion, you'd think apple would be well aware of it and mac geniuses well-informed on this topic... all I've had so far are blank stares when I try to describe this problem, as though I'm the first person to ever have this problem.
But I digress. I wanted to say, I had this problem on my November 2006 MBP before installing Leopard. And I don't think it's at all related to torrent-downloading (sometimes the AEBS is running fine for days, while downloading a few files, and other times it's up and down like a fricken bloody yo-yo when all I'm doing is trying to surf the weather and send emails). Like everyone else, the only thing I can do when it goes down is power it down and then plug it back in again - when my MBP loses the connection with the AESB, the light on the AESB is still solid green as though nothing is wrong.
Tonight I found this article on the support site:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304482 - it says that "After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.8, some Intel-based computers may not auto-connect to remembered networks that use WPA2 or WEP security. This article explains how to correct this behavior."
And I've just tried the instructions in this article. So far, so good, but I'm not holding my breath since sometimes the network will be fine for the better part of the week, and other times it needs to be reset 8 times in a single hour. I'm hoping this is it - I'm not a UNIX expert by a long shot, but I've heard that there are flaws with Finder and lost connections with peripheral devices, kernelling issues. So I'm hoping, fingers crossed, that this article is what we need.
