HP PSC 750 Won't Print with Gutenprint v5.1.3

I have 4 HP printers and have just upgraded to Leopard. I have the two Laser printers using the PS Generic drivers and believe I have eliminated the "printing paused" problem for those. I also have a HP PSC 750 and a HP Photosmart C5180. If I install the driver for one of those two, the other doesn't print. So I have installed the driver for the C5180 and am trying to print to the PSC 750 with the Gutenprint driver. Using that driver the print job goes to the queue but just sits there until I delete it. I get the message "GenericClass: waiting for device, connecting." but nothing ever happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The exact thing happens to me on my psc 950. I found a really weird fix--I don't understand it but it works. I had to use the gutenprint 5.1.3 to add my psc 950 to the printer list after it was lost when upgradeing to 10.5. With that loaded, I then reinstall the psc 950 driver from hp (2005 edition for 10.4). As the driver installs, the printer starts printing. Here is what I have found so far: As long as the installer is in the dock, the 950 prints. As soon as I turn off my computer, it's back to not printing. run the installer, it shows up in the dock, and lo and behold it prints.
Since my psc was hit by lightning and only prints, I'm going to wait for a Leopard ready psc and buy that. For now, this is incovenient but I get what I need done this way.
Can anyone explain why this happens?
