iTunes 7.5 Songs Skipping

I just started using 7.5 today, and while I am listening to my music, songs start to skip, or pause occasionally and then start up again. Does anyone else have this problem?

I just started having the problem yesterday, after several days of no problems after the initial upgrade to 7.5. I am setup with airtunes and have no problem connecting to the airport. The skipping happens while listening to either online radio or my library (which indicates to me that this isn't an internet connection problem).

However I have noticed that when I am active on the computer it seems to be better. Only when it sits idle have I noticed a major problem. The problem is very erratic and doesn't seemed to be linked to any other programs being open or closed.

Anyone having similar issues?

I'm having the same problem here. After upgrading to iTunes 7.5 and QuickTime, when I am not active on the computer, songs skip and distort in random places. Rewinding the song back to where it skipped does not produces the skip - so I know my songs are not corrupted. When installing Leopard I did an archive and install on my Mac Pro with 6GB of RAM so I know there is no problem there.

It would be appreciated if anyone had any ideas. Thanks in advance.

I've got the same skipping bug on my Intel MacMini 1.83GHz with no iTunes plug-ins installed at all.

I store my iTunes Library on an external Firewire HD, and have never had a skipping problem before. After this upgrade there are random pauses of silence in songs when playing back that last about a 1/2 second each.

Anyone know how to downgrade iTunes to the previous version?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Randomly it will skip or just pause for a split second at the beginning of a song and sometimes it kinda restart the song. Doesn't always do it and I cant seem create it myself, seems to only do it randomly regardless. It happens while I am using the computer and while its idle just playing music.

I upgraded to 10.5 and I didnt have this problem. Installed iTunes 7.5 and I noticed it almost imminently.

I cant seem to find the reason for it. I have had my Task Manager open while it happens and I dont see it react like something hung.

Its bugging the **** out of me

Same problem here- songs skip, shorten, or just quit entirely. Half the time I can't get ANY song to start playing again, though the icon next to the song title says it's playing. Sometimes closing then restarting iTunes helps, but after one successful song play it's back to the same old crap.

Never had this problem before I installed Leopard- so far it's pretty to look at but has been more aggravating than anything else- Firefox randomly disappeared- along with all my bookmarks, iTunes has turned out to be a veritable POS, Mail won't work with my Yahoo mail account...

Any answers on how to fix this $130 mess would be helpful.... APPLE??? ANY HELP???

Used to love my iBook, but now it's irking the snot out of me.

I solved the problem on my computer; maybe it'll work for you?

I quit using Safari and reinstalled Firefox. Since I made the browser change I haven't had a single problem with iTunes- seems to be some inherent compatibility issue with the new versions of Safari and iTunes (I didn't start having problems until I installed Leopard). As for the goofing up when the computer is idling, I have no clue. Hasn't been an issue for me (yet).

Go Apple... hopefully they improve before becoming another Microsoft.

I am having the same problem and I have NOT upgraded to Leopard, so it must be related to the new iTunes and/or its compatibility with QuickTime. Everything was going fine until I automatically downloaded these "upgrades."

The suggestion about switching from Firefox to Safari also doesn't make sense, as I never use Safari.

This is happening predominantly with CDs I play through iTunes, usually at tyhe point one song ends and another starts, but has happened with MP3s as well.
