Can't detect any wifi at all!!

Can anyone tell me how to resolve the problem about the iphone not detecting any wifi networks coz it's very irritating when you sometimes use the edge network of at&t and it's very slow.

Are you in an area where there is free Wifi, like your home. Or are you assuming that as you travel around town you are going to be using wifi. If that is the case your in trouble, wifi just does not exist everywhere and it not free what so every and is not part of AT&T service.

Wifi is mostly used for home and office use on a network that you are welcomed on.

Call Apple Care support or bring your phone to an Apple store if you have one in your area. My phone started doing this last week along with draining the battery within 4 hours. Support shipped a loaner phone by Fedex overnight. I returned my defective phone which they received today. They are overnighting a replacement which I should receive tomorrow. Apple support was extremely prompt and helpful. If there were an Apple store in my area I probably could have exchanged the defective phone on the spot. Good luck!

I've only been able to get a weak WiFi connection, if any, and when it works it only lasts about a minute. I've tried the suggestions below with no success. I talked to a tech advisor at my Apple store and he said I needed to get my own WiFi account. I called AT&T. They said that wasn't correct. So do you think there must be something wrong with my iPhone or is there something else I should try?

anneevelyn,

Where are you when you're getting this weak wi-fi signal, in your home? The reason is probably that you're getting a signal off of a neighbor's wireless router. I see that you have a dial up modem, so that leads me to believe that you dont have a wireless router in your home. If this is the case you will only be able to get a steady signal through edge which comes with your AT&T service. There are places that offer free wi-fi. For example, Panera Bread here in Maryland, the Library, McDonald's, etc. Wi-fi is not avaialbe anywhere and everywhere.

I dont think yours is a stupid question, so don't worry. I cant answer 100% for sure, but normally a DSL line or cable modem line is connected to a wireless router which will then send out your internet signal wirelessly. If you want wi-fi in your home you may have to get a DSL line or cable modem. I dont think wireless routers work with dial-up connections, but I could be wrong.

I had a similar problem with my iPhone after a software update. My wifi died and absolutely would not work at all. I call Apple regarding this problem and they could not provide a solution so they offer me a new phone. If your wifi is working sometimes then there might be something wrong with your configurations. Otherwise if it doesn't work at all then you should give Apple a call.
