I installed Need for Speed Carbon in an "erase & install" of 10.5 and the game runs but with a black screen. I have a MacPro, RadeonX1900, 10G Ram. Game works perfectly under 10.4.10. No help from EA.com (I posted in the forums there also, but no response.)
I was running it on 10.4.10 without problems. Now updated (via upgrading) to 10.5 the game starts but soon the graphics crashes and displays with errors. Also the game crashes and force to quit doesn't work. Anyone having troubble with 10.5 and NFSC?
(obviously running on my iMac)
I also have problems playing NFS:C on 10.5. My problem is a little different. When I try to run it, I get an error that says "You can't open the application "Need for Speed Carbon.app" because it is not supported on this platform".
Just installed 10.5.1 and a graphics firmware upgrade for the Radeon HD 2600 Pro on my iMac. Nothing solved yes. Same graphic errors which leads to system freeze.
I've tried deleting the config from prefs folder and still nothing.
You don't know how much I thank you for this. Works even better than it does on Tiger! I tried to download config files from anywhere but they were no good. I was starting to think I won't be able to play it anymore.
Worked fine for me
thank you for posting this, but tit still isn't working for me.
my preferences directory is named differently (
User/Library/Preferences/Need for Speed Carbon Preferences)
ok, instead of just replacing the old file i copied and pasted the contents of the new file into the old file and saved. Works like a charm.
thank you very much.
I just installed this game and am having the same black screen and full sound issue. I replaced the prefs file with the config from above but it still doesn't work.
