iPhone has become paperweight

Phone stops syncing a couple of songs into process. Error message of either "disk cannot be read from or written to" or "the device is not connected". I have spent hours on the phone with support, no solution. I have uninstalled reinstalled itunes more times than I care to think about. I have restored the phone, erasing all of my music and videoes. There are hundreds of people with this problem on the web and APPLE is acting like it doesn't exist! When are we going to get an answer? Others have had their phones replaced only to get the same error when syncing the new phone. I didn't buy this phone with the idea that I wouldn't be able to load music or videoes onto it or that I would be spending all of my time trying to fix it with no help from the company.

Doubtful no help. Take it into an Apple Store and tell them what is happening. People have gotten new iPhones for battery life so if yours wont even sync then youre a shoe in.

I have an iPhone and I have yet to have any problems with it so good ones do exist.

The people that come to these forums are people with problems or people trying to help solve them.

SO yes 100 stories may exist but over 1,000,000 iPhones were sold.

That means atleast 900,000 are satisfied customers 🙂

I was satisfied as you are until the phone broke and Apple is ignoring the problem. I guarantee you will have the same problem and will feel the same way I do. I don't want the phone replaced, I want it fixed. Perhaps you didn't see the part of my post that stated there are many people who have had the phone replaced only to get the same error. An update needs to be released to fix the bug and if they are working on it Apple needs to tell us they acknowledge its existence instead of telling us to reinstall itunes! Give me a break.

You've probably have done this already but have you tried connecting to a different USB port or another sync cable?

Many comments about how USB hub not working properly with iPhone/iPod, as well as some of the PC (I also have a Dell XPS) experience some kind of voltage drop, when there is another USB device connected (e.g., external HDD) and disrupts the current flow (I have this problem with a USB switch on Dell).

Thought I just mention it since you had not...

will it be ok to use the phone on the usb on my new imac keyboard?

The best thing I can recommend is to try it - assuming that it is the wired version (not sure how BT version would do). If it does not work right, you can always connect direct to iMac.

I use Belkin USB hub connected to MBP and sync iPhone without any problems.

But, YMMV!

Nick, I feel you on this, I am having the exact same issue. I have talked to customer care about 10 times and exchanged a million emails with apple engineers trying to figure it out. My phone synced just fine 3 weeks ago but now it doesn't. I have re-installed windows, reinstalled itunes, restored the phone, had the phone replaced, done literally everything. Somehow I gotta think the drivers for my usb ports are messed up or there is a program interfering. I have been able to sync the phone just fine with 2 other computers with Vista and a macbook pro. I don't understand it and nobody has an answer like you said. What should we do?

here's my original post with little answers.

I have tried three different cables and all the ports on the computer.

Pepsi, This situation is incredible to me. The reason it is called "i"phone is because of the ipod capabilities and they are completely unusable. Apple must know of the problem, I feel like they are lying to us by actiing like its some crazy problem that they have never heard of. If Apple is fixing the bug TELL US YOU ARE WORKING ON IT. I guess the only thing we can do is have any many people with the problem list it here on this thread until Apple responds. I recommended iphone to everyone that asked me about it before this problem. Seeing the way it is being handled, you can believe I will not lay my word on the line again for a company that has handled a problem in this way.
