PC monitor resolution

My G3-beige works well now except for the 17" PC monitor which will only display at 640 X 480 pixels forcing horizontal scrolling to display entire screen page width.

(1)how can higher resolution (1024 x ?) which was used on PC be selected ?

(2)if not possible to increase resolution is there another way to eliminate horizontal scrolling ?

Thanx,
Mac Newbie

I am sure he has already tried that...

If you are using the built-in video port on your G3, and are using an adapter, check the dip switches on them and make sure you set them up to handle larger resolutions.

My current adapter on the G3 with 10.1 I am on right now allows me up to 1920x1080, using my adapter, which has only 1 dip switch. One position for 21" Apple display emulation, and the other which tells the G3 I am really running a VGA monitor..
