File transfer via Bluetooth is not supported with the iPhone and Apple providing the ability to share music in this way would probably cause problems for Apple with the music labels. The Zune allows for this but is restricted to 3 plays only or something by the recipient for each song transferred.
I think that is Apple's biggest let down with the iphone, tbh, i just got one and quite like it, but not being able to share contacts/movies etc with your mates in the pub is just rediculous. I wouldn't give a monkey about sharing mp3's, why dont they just restrict the use of sharing music and allow pictures/movies, since you can't even send an mms (obviously you can send an email etc, but what happens if you want to share that picture right there and then!). I think this is a seriously dissapointing part of the phone, if i were them i'd release an sdk/firmware upgrade, surely this is only a software issue since it has the hardware already.
Forgive me if I'm dragging this off Topic, but with the above mentioned Bluetooth profiles, does that also mean that the iPhone won't function as a Bluetooth Modem, to allow me to connect to the GPRS or Edge services and share them with my PowerBook? I'm thinking the times when there is no WiFi and I need to send a file/email using the PowerBook.
I was disappointed to find today that I can't send/receive photos via bluetooth. It's such a long process to have to e-mail and retrieve photos from the web.
