Ok, I have solved the question above, but I now have a new question
I am using Bootcamp and running windows XP, now I know windows XP can only detect 3gigs of the ram (I am going to upgrade to vista soon) but no matter how I configure the ram in my PC it is only picking up 2 gigs, does anyone know why?
Hi and welcome to Discussions,
you have to edit the boot.ini file.
Here's Microsoft article on that:
I have tried it with my Mac Pro and it didn't work with me.
BTW: Vista 32-bit does not change that limit. Only 64-bit Windows will support the full amount of RAM.
Ok, I have been trying to sort this out all evening and have done alot of research and reading forums etc, and I cannot get windows to detect more than 2 gigs of ram.
I have tried /pae /3gb /maxmem=4096
I have made it so Riser A has 2x1gb Ram sticks in it and Riser B has 2x1gb Ram sticks.
Does anybody have a clue how to make this work?
Not XP, but a good article on Vista and 4GB:
It takes time, but there are support articles to be found.
