Time Machine works for me now after reading the Apple Bulletin. My Gtech GDrive was set to the partition scheme for PowerPcs (I have an Intel MacBook Pro). After reformatting to GUID, all is well. Initial backup and several hourly backups have gone successfully. Fingers crossed that all my TM problems are a thing of the past.!
I have a PPC and my HD used to be APM and I had all sorts of problems with it, so I decided to give GUID a try. After about 1.5 hours the initial backup stopped after 10.8GB. Sounds like the MBR issue, but I repartitioned for GUID which should also work with PPC as long as I don't want to boot off it. GRRRRRRR!
i tried several times with GUID and always stopped after 10.85GB. Now trying APM again. So I'm back where i originally was except I lost all my previous time machine backups (since I had to repartition).
And then what will happen when I upgrade my powerbook to a new intel macbook pro in a couple months? My HD partition will have to change to GUID for it to work with the intel?
I just tried doing the exact same thing with a different drive and the same thing happens 😟
It stopped after about 10GB. ARGH! This is a firewire enclosure with my own Western Digital 120GB drive partitioned with Apple Partitioning. so the issue i'm having is obviously with Time Machine/Leopard and not with any particular brand of drive.
