ok so i tried adding this one video to iTunes. Well it doenst add. no error message. So i think its a problem with quicktime so i try to open it with quicktime. Voila guess what. I get an i/o -36 error. Now *** does that mean and how can i fix it. the file is an mp4 file that I can open with nero and other junk but cannot with quicktime.
Input/Output errors point the finger at the file format of the drive (or Flash media) that holds the file.
I/O errors could be the file name (path to file) or the format of the drive (FAT 16).
Could you tell us more about your file? The name used, the type of drive (and its format) and the method you used to move the file to your computer.
type of file? moved from where? my main harddrive (SATA NTFS) names used? FFVII Advent Children method used? either double click open with itunes/quicktime/etc, or just drag and drop. It will not be opend by itunes or quicktime in any way.
hey, i have the exact same problem. i tried to convert a youtube video to ipod format using the "free youtube to ipod converter" from dvdvideosoft.com. All i get is a mp4 that will give me that error -36 when i try to open it with QT. also, when i try to import it to iTunes, absolutely nothing happens, although i am able to see the video perfectly using nero showtime. I
I am in a toshiba computer, using Windows Vista Home Premium. the systems is NTFS. anything else you need to know? please help me!! it has happened a lot of times
it might be the ocnverter. i have tried a plethora of converters but the only one that seems to work for me is the freeze converter which sadly is fakefreeware. QQ
i don't think so. that;s the one i use because, when it works, its the fastest one. however, i have also tried a couple of others, like videora and total video converter, i always get the same error. i think it might be something to do with the mp4 drivers or something like that, i am not really good with comptuers XD.
I'm getting the same error: Error -36: an I/O error occurred (.mp4). It's very frustrating. Movies that worked before now don't. I recreate them, sometimes the problem goes away and sometimes not. Quicktime on a different computer plays the same files fine. Other players read it fine. I've reinstalled QuickTime and iTune several times now (a painful process when you have a large library and apple tv to resync).
