UK - Phone Number N/A in iTunes

Hey there. I got the phone just after 6pm, rushed home and activated it no problem with a new number. I've spent most of the night playing with it as it charges setting up voice mail, ect. When i've just noticed that in the itunes summary page my phone number is listed as N/A nor is it listed in the phone.

I found another thread on the matter on these forums and it seemed that righted itself after a few days.. Which of course mine might. I just wondered if anyone new what was causing it? To my knowledge everything else is perfectly fine. I can text and call, ect. So my account is activated. Just the iPhone can't see it? I even reset the phone to factory and re flashed it but no joy.

I know its only a little niggle, but does anyone know why it happens?

Same here, activated phone at 8pm last night, existing o2 customer, process as smooth as could be! (Yes, I couldn't believe it either)

Only issue so far is the number not showing up in iTunes, wondering if linked to Apple ID? Hence it would rectify itself after a day or two once Apple database updated with new info?

Hi

I too have n/a in iTunes where the phone number should be (UK). Also, is it possible and if so where, to view your own phone number on the iPhone?

Thanks.

If your phone number in not displayed in iTunes or at the top of your phone contact list, turn the phone OFF (hold sleep/wake switch until the red s lider appears & slide to OFF. Wait a few minutes and turn the phone back on. Once it reestablishes a cell tower connection, your phone number will appear.

Has anyone seen any change on this? I got my phone on the 9th, ported the number over (the phone updated on the 16th) but I still don't see the number on iTunes. I've also switched the phone on and off a few times too (in a couple of cases, when the phone has locked up and the touchscreen has stopped working!!!)...

Just found out that the reason for the cell phone number not showing in iTunes is in fact an O2 policy not to have the phone number added to the SIM to prevent people seeing it displayed in iTunes for security reasons!

How ever there is a fix for this, Remove your sim card from your iPhone and place it in to a standard cell phone. Once you have your iPhone sim in another cell phone edit the My Number to display 07xxxxxxxxx then place your sim back in to your iPhone this will now make it show up in iTunes and in the Contact list.

Hope this helps.
