error at startup Mac SE; unhappy Mac 000000F, 0000002

I was able to get OS 6.0.8 on a 1 GB harddisk on a POwerpc 4400/200. I installed it from the floppies. And during the installation i chose the option 'install on a Mac SE'

But when i put the HD in the Mac SE i get a black unhappy Mac with some numbers under it.

what can be the problem?

Paul,

This is probably software-related. You may have a bad hard disk driver, or something may be wrong with the system software.

Try to start the SE from a Disk Tools floppy, holding down the four keys Command (Apple) + Option (Alt) + Shift + Delete (Backspace). If possible, update the hard disk driver (Update in Apple HD SC Setup). If necessary, reformat the hard disk (using Apple HD SC Setup or a suitable third-party utility) and install a fresh system. Reformat the hard disk when it is in the SE. Install the new system directly at the SE.

Have you tried the British System 7.0 (and its Disk Tools floppy)? With access to the 4400/200, you should not have a problem creating a full set of sector-copied System 7.0 (800K) floppies from disk images (via Disk Copy 4.2).

My Mac SE works with the HD 1 GB !!!

your suggestion about booting with the four keys, was a winner. Now i could get passed the black sad mac error (000000f, 0000002)

I started up with floppy, then did the patched HD SC setup 7.3.5. the SE saw the harddisk. but during initializing i got an address error and the SE stopped.

then i remembered that error could be the RAM. I replaced the 2 pieces of RAM for the original ones that were in the SE. and then it was fine. i could completely initialize the HD now.

I have 6.0.8 on the HD now. i'm going to try this for a while and then maybe put OS 7 on it.

thanks everybody

Paul
