Anyone migrated to O2 yet after the UK launch?

Has anyone had their number ported yet? Those who were already on O2 contracts could move their current number onto their iPhone at no charge or penalty on the old contract.

I did this last night at the launch. I know we are told it can take 5 business days to port the number to the iPhone but I thought O2 might have been geared up to make this happen a little quicker. The guy in the shop said it would probably take only a few hours.

Just wondering if anyone has ported yet?

I am porting from T-mobile, after getting the phone this morning (gave up last night due to the chip & pin problems in CPW).

I got an email saying "The porting of your existing number to your iPhone *can take up to 5 business days*. A text message will be sent to your iPhone once your existing number has been transferred."

Then an hour or so later, I got a text saying that my number will transfer on 19/11/07. Due to the weekends, this squares up with the 5 business days, but I was hoping it would take less. A call to the O2 support people confirmed what the text said - and he thought it impossible for an earlier port...

Anyone receive something similar?

Guess I will be carrying around two phones for another week and a bit!

Sounds like O2 like AT&T was not really ready for the number of activations. Also possible that the problem (time delay) maybe caused by the old service not allowing the transfer or being ready to handle the number of concurrent transfers.

Sounds like a lot of other phone vendors were not ready to handle such a load and now there is a queue. Your old service may also be slowing down things to give the customers that are leaving a bit of a sour taste for the iPhone in the hope they return it and come back.

Who knows?

I called Vodafone last night and the guy told me they couldn't give me the PAC number over the phone and it would be mailed out to me but could take 3-5 business days. I was a bit hacked off but figured that was just their system, even though when I was transferring to them 4 years ago, T-mobile gave me my PAC number on the phone. Feeling like I was fobbed off now that I see other Vodafone customers got codes on the phone. I'll be calling them tomorrow and telling them I want the number before I hang up the the phone or I'm calling the watchdog.

I'm an o2 simplicity customer and had my number ported as soon as I entered the details into iTunes. My old phone went offline and the iPhone sprang to life with my old number transferred to the new one.! I have no admit that where credit is due - it all went really well and i'm impressed with o2. I'm going to transfer my girlfriend to o2 simplicity based on this experience (from vodafone)
