I've just set my iPhone up (well yesterday) and it's brilliant, only problem is that for some reason iTunes will not display my number in the summery tab, it just says n/a, does anyone know why?
Thanks.

Benjamin The set-up process has not quite completed. Once it's done,iTunes will display your number. As the system is VERY busy right now,it may take a little while. Jim
Song002 I have done, several times. I've been using it a lot since last night when I got back from the Apple store. It has been disconnected and reconnected to iTunes a fair few times since then but the number still won't show up.
I am having the same problem with my number not showing up in iTunes when I connect it. Also my number does not show up at the top of my contacts list.
just rang apple support on the o2 helpline number and asked why my telephone number does not appear in the itunes information screen, they say that it does not appear AT ALL! i did find this strange as i didnt see why they would leave a space for it, anyway they guy said that because there is no telephone number on the sim card itunes wil not display a number.
does this sound right???

o2 appear to have a bug in their system at the moment where some of the provisions are not pushing properly. In my case it doesn't show the number in iTunes and Visual Voicemail isn't working (it goes to regular voicemail). I've got an o2 customer services guy calling me every few hours at the moment with an update (mind you it has taken about 5 days worth of calls to get them to keep me up to date!)
I have found a solution to the problem of my number not being dispalyed properly. I now can see my number in itunes and at the top of the contacts and in the phone settings. It has something to do with the number being on the sim card, i went to my old (02) motorola KRZR mobile and went to my numbers with the o2 iphone sim installed, i saw that under my telephone numbers had no numbers listed, so i went to edit and added my iphone number. I now can see my telephone nmber listed where it should! I do think though that you cant just put the numbers on the sim (i tried that with a sim reader/writer) which didnt work, it has to be on the part of the sim which stores YOUR mobile number. I rang both apple support and o2 and neither of them were any help at all (see previous post)
Well this solution worked for me anyway.

i didnt do it through the iphone, i used my old mobile phone (motorola) which has a my phone number menu, i then placed my iphone sim into the motorola phone and went to the my numbers menu and typed in my number, i then placed the iphone sim back into the iphone and thats it.

I just did exactly what you suggested with complete success. The iPhone I did this for had not properly displayed it's number on itself nor in itunes since I got it in June. Great suggestion - too bad that it has to be done this way.
I had wasted so much time talking to Apple Tech Support about this, and you really came up with an easy to manage solution - at least for people who have an alternate mobile phone available.
Genius!!! Worked for me, wait for O2 or apple and it'll never happen! How can i company create such an amazing phone, then not do such a simple task! Give the guy who figured this out a job!!!
