Brother Control Center not functional with MFC after upgrading to leopard

not sure how much this issue actually has to do with leopard but appeared only after upgrading from Tiger:

after upgrading to leopard i could not get the brother control center to do anything with my MFC-8860DN, even though i could print without any problems using the leopard printer service.
reinstalling the printer and installing the latest twain all did nothing. kept playing around until i clicked on the control center device setting and then pull down menu where it listed the device. clicked on other and then presto, got a menu that showed that it was trying to use an old IP address. all works fine now. how stupid is this placing such an important piece of info in a totally obscure place....?

Hi. mine is doing the same thing. The icon for the control center is up in the right hand corner of the screen, there is a brief flash when I turn on the computer of the control center logo - but nothing happens when I try to click on the icon. I have tried to reinstall the driver. Is there a solution? I have had to use my laptop to scan - the icon still works on the laptop.

Thanks!

Hi mfidd,

Were you able to find a fix? I am suffering from the same problem. The control center worked before I left on a trip and I came back and now it is just sitting there up in the right hand corner and I am unable to open it. I would appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Thank you.

If you find the control center in HD>Library>Printers>Brother>Utilities>ControlCenter.
You can't move the icon to your Applications, it would not open (at least for me!)
You can have it in your Applications by making an Alias and moving the alias to your Applications.
Then you can double click the icon in the Applications folder and it would open!

I have tried every thing in this thread but still had no joy trying to get control centre to open. It's showing as there but will not open, it flashes on start up and then disappears!

I have a Brother 8065DN....I'm really starting to get frustrated as I can't scan as things are at the moment...

PLEASE HELP.......

I am using a Brother MFC 235C with Tiger. I too have had scanning problems. It seems that there are definitely multiple bugs in the Brother software. For instance, starting the MFC wakes the computer from sleep (I accept that) but also generates an alert message from the Image Capture application that "the device cannot be found". This despite the fact that Image Capture is not even running! This alert cannot be dismissed by hitting OK; you have to launch Activity Monitor and Quit the process called "Twain Bridge". This I do not accept!
My suggestions:
• Make sure the computer is awake before starting the MFC.
• The Control Centre icon should be in the Menu Bar - not on the desk top or any other folder.
• Scan using Image Capture - it's a better application than Control Centre.
