Hi Eumir
You only can listen to wav.files on your 630-with QuickTime 4.03:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120067
To extract QT you will need Stuffit :
http://www.oldos.org/files/macdl.php
You also can get an older version of Stuffit with your PC with MACDISK.exe(Jan Hedlund, quoted):
New version
Go to this web page ( http://rrzs42.uni-regensburg.de/Macintosh/files/macftp.html ). Download the MACDISK.EXE file onto your PC. Prepare an empty 1.44 MB PC-formatted diskette via the FORMAT A: command in DOS or the "Full" formatting option under Windows (this is an important step). Run the MACDISK.EXE program on the PC (you may have to temporarily unload any anti-virus software to do this). Follow the instructions on screen. When ready, immediately eject the floppy (now automatically in a Mac format, ready for use in a Macintosh computer) and move it to the Classic. Drag-copy the StuffIt Expander installer onto the hard disk. Run the installation program."
You can make that wav.files with for instance CLEAN on PC.
Worked for my PB 190 with OS 8.0

At least according to this web page, a program called MpegDec ought to work with a Performa 630 and Mac OS 8.1 (do expect quality limitations).

You mentioned that an application to open a file could not be found. Did you try to download something via a PC? If so, please bear in mind that Mac program files have been encoded (.bin or .hqx) or just compressed (.sit). Keep the files as they are until on the Mac, then use StuffIt Expander for the decoding/decompression (drag the file in question onto the StuffIt Expander icon).
