Disk Read Error

I Had the same problem.I re-partitioned and reinstalled Windows and it did happen again ''Disk read error".I don't Know what to do.I really want XP in my new iMac.

Same problem here, I've tried several times, I deleted the BootCamp partition and re-created it etc. No luck! Leopard is beta-software !

I re installed windows Xp Sp2.It happens again.I have done it 4 times by now and all I get is Disk error.
Windows are not ''really installed'' in the system.Only thing I can do is format the partition and prepare for the installation then it restarts the computer to start the installation and "Press any Key to Boot From CD...... Disk Read Error".No matter what I do.This is A BUG THAT SHOULD BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY. WE WANT AN UPDATE NOW.

yeah...i'm exactly where you guys are. only difference for me is my 'drop-in leopard dvd' install disc that came with my new MBP isn't very reliable and i was lucky to just get leopard installed.

please post with any updates, advice, anything...a lot of us are in the same predicament.

The problem was my XP SP2 CD.I got a new Windows Vista CD and it worked.No "Disk Read Error", nothing, it just installed.I don't know what the problem was but I found out that many people had that kind of problems installing Windows and their problem disappeared when they used another XP or Vista Disc.I still don't know what was wrong with my XP disc.

How did you install bootcamp?
What size/kind of partition did you create?
Are you using XP SP2?

I just wanted to bump this thread. So what exactly do I have to do to get Boot Camp working? I've been getting the Disk Read Error also. I have a valid new copy of Windows XP that has been combined with SP2. This disc worked on the beta Boot Camp but why not now?? Any advice someone?

Put the Windows install CD in the drive

Boot up, holding down the Option key.

THree drive icons will appear, Macintosh, Windows, and one that looks like a CD. Select that one.

Windows will start the install process.

When it gets to the part where you have to select the drive to install on, select C: Bootcamp

The install program may whine about another OS already being installed there, ignore that.

Then you'll see a screen that wants you to select ormattng the partion and what file system to use.

* Select ANY OPTION ***EXCEPT*** "Leave the curent file system intact (no changes)" *

Then continue the install.

This should solve your issue. It was mentioned in the User Guide, plus a couple of threads on this board.

I tried exactly what you said, and I still get a "Disk read error, push any key to restart".

My MacBook Pro was purchased December 8, 2007, I have installed all of the updates for it through Software Update.
