Using iPhone in car via cassette tape player, anyone got it to work?

Hi there,

When i used to listen to my iPod in the car i used it via the tape deck with a wire going into the iPod headphone hole. Now i thought if i were to use the iPhone in the car using theiPod function it would work on the same principle.

But...when i connect it and start playing music, music plays from the iPhone integrated speaker and through the car speaking its like a pulse noise.

Just wondering if anyone has heard you need an iPhone specific tape thing?

Many thanks,

Epaso

Not a Mac :'( hopefully soon though!, Windows XP

The iphone has a recessed phone jack so it probably isn't going all the way in even if it seems to. I use a car adapter as well when I initially tried to play music the same thing happened. The plug couldn't go in all the way. So what i did was cut the plastic surrounding the tape jack and by cutting an extra few centimeters from the jack it was able to slide all the way in.
