Yikes, I cleaned my LCD with 70% Rubbing Alcohol on toilet paper

Hi there,
I had a quick question about my LCD monitor. Before I read all the stuff on the internet about cleaning LCDs, I put 70% rubbing alcohol on some toilet paper and very lightly applied it to my monitor. However, now I am freaking out because apparently this ruins your monitor. Did I permanently mess my LCD up by doing this? Thanks in advance.

Your best bet with an LCD panel of any size is to simply dust it with a soft cotton cloth, like an old T-shirt. For any stains you need to work on, you should avoid using a harsh solvent like acetone because they will simply eat away at the finish. Your goal is not to sterilize or kill anything on the surface, but to clear it of any debris that might obscure the display. For a comprehensive step-by-step guide to caring for LCDs, have a look at the LCDTV Buying Guide site at http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtvcaring.shtml

As someone who has gone through laptops as quickly as you have, a gentler approach might also include using accessories that minimize contact with the unit like a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Less touching means less opportunity for contact with the skin and its oils and less of a compulsion to want to clean the machines surfaces.
