Local Disk space and The Sims 2

I've been trying to install The Sims 2 on my computer for a while now. When the message that I needed 1gb of local disk space came up I went through my entire computer and deleted anything I didn't need and moved old stuff to my ext. hard drive. I still have the same message appearing and I don't know what to do! I'm running it from the hard drive, which seemed to be the solution for others, but it's still not working!

Do you have the cd/dvd in the drive while you are trying to run it. I have the sims on my macbook and it requires the cd/dvd to be in the drive while playing.

Can you right click on your HD and get info and see how much space you have available?

That should be plenty of space. The next thing that I would try is verifying and repairing disk permissions using disk utility. It may be that there is something going on that won't let you write to the disk. After that, just try following the directions to install.

Ok, I did that and I still get the same error message. Also, this game installed on my friends macbook without a hitch and hers is exactly the same as mine.

i had the same problem, heres what i did to fix it:

put the disc in the computer (i know this goes without saying...)
double click on the icon of The Sims 2 DVD, which should open a window with a black background, a large picture of The Sims 2 logo, two folders, and a few lines of instructions.
follow the instructions- drag the folder from the window to the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop. A small window should pop up that says "Copying Items to 'Macintosh HD' "
after this, click the icon within the new folder inside the Macintosh HD location.

Have you had any luck? I am having the same problem with it saying there is not enough disk space available and I JUST bought my computer! There is nothing on it!

im having exactly the same prob. tried the whole drag 2 hd and it dont work.. starting to think i wasted my money now 😟 so disappointed.. any help?
