Update Sync

I downloaded the update and during "backing up iphone" I get an error message saying "itunes couldn't sync because the phone was disconnected", of course the phone is not disconnected and I was also able to sync some new songs on it after I got the message. any thoughts on the problem/solution? Thanks.
