Visual Voicemail problem on o2 UK

Hi I've got a big issue with Visual Voicemail, in that it doesn't work and hasn't done since my iPhone got activated on Friday.

Basically I tap phone and voicemail and it just dials the voicemail. I've never had a visual voicemail screen asking for my greeting or pin.

I've been back and forth between o2 and AppleCare. I've done a factory restore which did nothing and finally o2 have told me that my account might not have the provisions yet and call back in 24 hours, well they've told me that 3 days in a row.

Has anyone else had this issue or found a way to solve it?

Hi I upgraded my phone from a blackberry, when it was first activated the voicemail was a non-starter too. I called up O2 and they asked me to enter in various reset codes to the phone and then to enter in a some more codes to re-activate voicemail... works perfectly since...

Sorry I don't have the network codes they asked me to enter... well, its worth a try.

Yeah it's 1760 to disable voicemail and 1750 to re-enable it but that doesn't work for me (yes every time I call them they insist on doing it even though I tell them I've done it 50 times before!)

When I finally got through to technical services instead of customer services they told me it seems the provisioning might not be enabled properly but they were having trouble doing so. Trouble is I don't care what the issue is, just fix it!

Although I've got a feeling the whole thing might also be related to the fact that the phone number in iTunes still lists as n/a too!

No. I keep trawling these pages in the vain hope of finding an answer. My partner and I both have the same trouble, and bearing in mind she is dependent on her phone working properly for her business, it is a major problem. Frankly I am just a little fed up with the whole thing. I loose patience when things don't work properly.
Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi,

I'm also a current o2 customer that switched to the iphone and didn't realise that voicemail was off. Have called the number to activate it and since then the old fashioned 901 route works but not getting alerts that I'm getting voicemail and of course visual voicemail doesn't work at all which is one of the iPhones biggest USP's...

Both ex Orange. Both working fine on the temporary number. Both trashed since the old Orange number transferred.....
Tried.
1. switch on and off
2. 1760 1750 routine
3. reset settings
4. full reset and restore

no luck at all - says voicemail needs setting up then hangs on saving settings 'voicemail unavailable at this time try again later'. Went all the way with support who said there's nothing more they can do except change the iPhones.....
there's nothing wrong with the phones, just the VV set-up!!!
Anyone got similar problems or found a solution?

PS - we're delighted with everything else on the iPhone, but this needs to work!

Just discovered that I had the same problem. Visual voicemail worked with the temporary number but failed after my Orange number was porter over. I'm happy to say that after some mucking around with it I now have visual voicemail working - the sequence of steps that was successful for me were:

1. Dial normal voicemail (901) and go through the initial setup.
2. Change visual voicemail password.
3. Reset all settings.

Hi, I'm having problems with VV. It was working fine until the day after my old Orange number was ported over to O2. I am not alerted to new messages having been left. If I switch the phone off then back on it almost immediately then alerts me to any messages and they show as VVs. I wanted to try your suggested sequence but how do you reset settings (3. in your list)?

Hi guys

I too have the same problem with my visual voice mail button dialling 901. After going back and forth between o2 and apple experts (I use that term lightly) I'm told that it's a problem with my hand set. Brendan you say

1. Dial normal voicemail (901) and go through the initial setup.
2. Change visual voicemail password.
3. Reset all settings.

cured your same problem. I phoned voicemail but it's already set up?! Reset all settings and still no joy? Am i missing something here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to go down to o2 and change the handset!

Please help!!

Many thanks

john

If it's any consolation I have exactly the same problem and have also tried the change voicemail password routine with no luck. O2 seem to think it's a problem with them and are investigating. As a matter of interest, when a voicemail is received into your voicemail box are you sent an alert to the phone to tell you it's there? I'm given no indication at all and so as well as no VV I have to dial in periodically to check - hopeless!

I have had this problem for a while now, and after piecing things together from various bits of information on this post, i have finally managed to get things to work properly!

1. Dial 1760 from the handset to turn voicemail off
2. Dial 901 to call 'old fashioned' o2 voicemail and select option 2 to change PIN
3. Hang up and press settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
4. After the phone has restarted, i went to Phone>Voicemail and all was working well!!! Proper visual Voicemail! Then, go back to settings>Phone and change voicemail password

I really hope this helps people, i know exactly how ****** annoying it gets when things stop working on the iPhone!
