Keyboard paint is chipping off

I bought my laptop in february and a month later the keys already had paint coming off. When I looked it up it said that others had the same problem and would just bring it to the apple store to get certain keys replaced. It also said the only thing you can do is trim your fingernails.

When I took my laptop to the apple store...the genius told me that it was a cosmetic problem and was my fault. The only way I would get my keys replaced was if I paid for it myself. He suggested that I buy a keyboard cover.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

You need to find a different genius to talk to or call Apple on the phone. I had the same problem with my iBook, and I got a replacement keyboard under warranty. If you have any trouble at all, call Apple and ask to speak to Apple Customer Relations. This is a defect, not normal wear and tear.

Good luck!

I have experienced the problem where the keys' letters would start to rub out, i don't know if this is similar to your problem. but i had 2 keyboards replaced - one on a powerbook 12" and also on a MBP 17", and both were replaced under warranty - no cost to me.

I agree with S.U. (the above poster) - that you should check with a different genius or talk to apple on the phone, and when all else fails, speak to a customer relations representative.
