iPhone and Airport Security Checkpoint?

No problems here either... just returned from Hawaii and I didn't turn off my phone when it went through security checks. Probably will do that in the future though 🙂 Used airplane mode during the 9 hour flight and watched Easy Rider and listened to music for most of the trip (which total was about 14 hours)... battery was still at half when I got to my destination. Turn off bluetooth, wifi, and turn on airplane mode made the battery last quit a long time. If traveling overseas turn off that roaming feature or check with ATT closely about your plan. Unless something is seriously wrong with the machine it should not mess with your iPhone. The only precaution I have taken was turning it completely off before putting it through the scanner, and then powering it on when requested.

While in flight you should turn on Airplane mode to comply with FCC and FAA regulations.

It is a security precaution to see if the object you are carrying really is that, and not something that was made to look like it, or been hollowed out and filled with something else.

Back from a trip to Spain today - the iPhone went through the x-ray machine twice, once on the journey out and today coming back to the UK - and have seen no problems at all with my iPhone.

I do it so when they ask me to turn it on to show its working, its already off.

I should have stated it was a personal precaution.

My iPhone goes through an X-ray machine every day at work and works fine. It's always on at the time also.
