Hard drive removal

How do you remove the hard drive out of the tower?

466 G4 tower, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 640mb ram

Hi,

Shut down and let it cool. Open it up and touch the power supply (Large silver box above the hard drive) to ground yourself. Unplug the power and ribbon cables. There's one small phillips head screw at the front of the drive sled into the bottom case. Once the screw is removed slide the drive forward and lift. The sled will come loose from the case and by removing the four screws in the sides the drive can be removed from the sled.

And when you put in a new drive (if you do) make sure that:

a) you connect it to the same connector as the drive that was removed if there are more than one connectors on your cable
b) you set the jumpers to reflect Master or Single drive, unless you have two drives.

If you have two drives on the same cable the Slave drive must be correctly configured and be positioned ABOVE the Master drive and connected to the cable using the connector in the middle of the cable.
