UK iTunes and Ringtones

UK iTunes and Ringtones

am I loosing my mind??
I cannot get iTunes to create any ringtones
if I go into my music library (or purchased playlist) and select show options, there is no option for ringtones
if I go to the music store and show options, then I can select to view ringtones
the only problem is, I can't find ANY song that has the little bell symbol next to it

I give up! does it just not work in the UK yet??

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5)

Its is very possible that ringtones have not been enabled in the UK iTunes store yet.

I believe that the consensus with everyone here in the UK who has posted this same message is that the UK iTunes does not currently display any songs that can be converted to ringtones.

I think that we will just have to wait.

Yep, either wait or DIY - there are plenty of threads on how you can brew your own in 1.1.2 which solves the problem until we can buy them from iTunes.

hi. Do a search there is a solution using iTunes. CAn't go into destails on a train on iPhone and the keyboard ain't that good. 😉 I love my I phone

You can do ringtones, but not completely directly. Just take a section of a song, use garage band on Mac or soundforge on PC. convert it to AAC through Itunes. delete the file from itunes but not from the hard drive, find your new AAC file and rename it to m4r instead of m4a, then drag it back to itunes. and voila a new ringtone. use the sync tool to transfer it to the iphone.

I've just done this with iTunes 7.5 and iPhone 1.1.2 and it does work. Awesome.

woooo
it worked, I now have my girlfriends ringtone back on my phone
she will be happy

sound quality is a bit poor on the iPhone though 😟
