iPod Touch screen durability question

Hi there,

I'm currently trying to decide between an 8GB iPod Nano and an 8GB iPod Touch and I was wondering if some of you could share information about the screen durability of your new iPod Touches.

I love the iPod line of MP3 players, and after my last iPod died from rough handling I've decided that I want my next iPod to use flash memory, which limits me to the Nano and the Touch. I'm also very interested in watching video on my iPod since I have a 45 minute commute on a train every day.

I have heard that the plastic over the screen on the Nano is similar to the plastic of the old iPods, and as such can be scratch-prone, but that the screen on the Touch is a much more scratch-resistant glass. How have the screens on your iPod Touches held up so far to regular use?

Thanks!

well the ipod touch has an extremely durable screen - ive experienced things being dropped on mine and have quickly scrambled to see if it has been scratched, and it hasnt!
this video on youtube shows how durable screen is also - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzbxpSwDetk
i would also recommend the ipod touch over the ipod nano because of its features ie larger screen, touch screen, 'pnching' zoom with pictures, wifi and safari, and the only downside is it has a 22 hour battery life, instead of a 24 battery life on a nano
GET AN IPOD TOUCH!

Yeah, I have heard great things about the iPod Touch screen, and I like the unit a lot, it's just a very big investment so I want to be absolutely sure before I make my decision.

If the $300 Touch had a little more space (maybe 10mb instead of 8mb) I would pick it no question, but $300 seems like a lot of money for only 8gb, and I don't know if I can afford the $400 for the 16gb version.

yes i perfectly agree with you, as you said a minute ago - which one the 8gb nano or 8gb touch, i would go for the touch, it has much more technology incorporated into its design for ony an extra £70 (in the UK dont know about the US), like the touch screen and the wifi, i would deffinately go for the touch it is worth all the money, the only downside, like you said, is the capacity for the price.
if you are going to use it for alot of music, and not much video, then go for the classic in 80gb - which is cheaper.

Even though the touch has a scratch resistance glass, it can still get scratched, I know someone here who posted way back managed to get their screen scratched, and a deep one too. it depends what you used and how hard it was hit, I'd still get a screen protector for it, I got the invisible shield for it and the touch still works, and it still senses my finger.

If you plan on getting the touch, i'd get a 16 GB with just spending 100 buck more. But if your budget only limits you to get an 8 GB then get the 8 GB touch. One thing I like about touch, is yes, the wi-fi feature (I gotta say, it's awesome, you can view e-mails, surf the web, do anything on the web on the go), I like movies in Widescreen and you can watch movies in Widescreen view. I'd say get an iPod touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the 8 gig and still have plenty of room but I did not put my entire music library on the unit. If you have easy access to your computer you can manage your music and movies to the ones you would expect to need the most. If you change your mind you can remove old songs/movies to make room for a newer media. The screen on mine still seems perfect other than fingerprint smudges and you can use the polishing cloth to clean it up to a like new shine. I have almost 4 gigs of music on my iTunes and that would take 52 days to listen to all of them and I am sure you would have to charge on your computer allowing you make changes if needed.

Good Luck
