Yahoo! Web-based email forces me to mobile-web version

First of all, I have a business Yahoo account under my own domain name. Second, the Mail app in my iPhone simply doesn't work. Don't ask me why. I wish I knew. That's for another post.

SO: I had been happily logging onto Yahoo via Safari and checking my business email there. Until now. Like many other iPhone users, I'm now running into several websites that FORCE me to use mobile web versions. Thanks a lot. I understand that you can switch that off in Google. You CANNOT in Yahoo. The problem is, when I log onto Yahoo mail thru safari, it sends me to my @yahoo.com account. In the REAL version of Yahoo, I can click mydomainname.com to switch over to my business account. In the mobile web version, I cannot. There is only my @yahoo.com account, and nothing else. Well, ok, there is a link that says "Check other email", but that just sends you to an error page. Awesome.

I disabled JavaScript. This did nothing.

Any other ideas? I've tried everything.

I can't check email at work, and my iPhone Mail doesn't work, and now Safari doesn't work for my email either. Why should I have an iPhone at all? My old cell phone did just as good a job at not retrieving my email. (By the way, don't bother with saying something like "Oh, it's not Apple's fault!" I don't CARE whose fault it is, I just want to be able to access my email.)

I agree that this is annoying. It is also a problem with Bank of America's site.

One way I was able to get around this was to log in to my yahoo inbox on my home computer and copy the link (something like us.f308.mail.yahoo....) I saved this in my iPhone bookmarks and it allows me full access to my yahoo email.

There isn't much you can do. The website identifies the browser type and renders the page it sees fit. In this case it sees your iPhone as a mobile browser and renders the mobile page.

The bigger concern, I think, is why you can't get your Yahoo business mail to work on your iphone. That should be your main point of concern.

I was able to reproduce this behavior - iPhone, SW 1.1.2. Tried to disable JavaScript, Plug-Ins, Block Pop-ups and set to "never" Accept Cookies. Cleared History, Cookies and Cache. After doing all this, behavior is still reproducible. Then restored the device and set it up as "New Phone", not syncing any data - still persist, regardless if connecting via Wi-Fi or EDGE. At this point looks like it's Yahoo related. Appears to be that this is the way Yahoo treats the device.

Then someone needs to tell yahoo to mind their own business! This is why we all bought an iPhone. FULL WEB BROWSER! Not a cut down mobile version of the web.

Here is the trick.. go to my.yahoo.com instead of ww.yahoo.com. This will take you
to a non-wap version of web page.

I'm having the same problem. When did this start? It was using the real version of Yahoo just the other day. This is crazy, one of Apples selling pitches is that we get to use the real version of the web, not some mobile version. I could do that on my last phone. Whosever fault it is Apple or Yahoo, they need to fix it back just the way it was.

I tried going to the my.yahoo.com but it said that it doesn't support my browser....but let me click on the beta version and that seemed to work just fine.

However, it is very disappointing that this was changed. I was able to load the full version of yahoo the other day. I do not like this at all!!

Well the yahoo beta version is better, but who knows what will happen next they'll take that version away from us as well. I wonder can we complain to Yahoo about this.

Welcome to the forums!
FYI, I have my own domain hosted by AT&T/Yahoo has well. I use my Mail app on the iPhone to access it. So, it's possible. The only thing is that is not IMAP. Interesting that they have IMAP and push for their free but not for their Small Business accounts.

mail.YourDomain.com
it should take you to the page to enter your login and password as it did before no?

Simple solution. Open Safari on your apple. Go to your business Yahoo account page. Save your business Yahoo account page on the bookmarks bar on Safari. Plug your iphone into your apple. When you open up itunes with iphone, go to info and select sync Safari bookmarks. After your done with sync, eject ipod, go to book marks on your iphone, and your new business Yahoo account bookmark will be there. Click it and you will not see the mobile web version of business Yahoo account anymore.
