I found an iPhone on the train this morning. As an owner of an iPhone, I want to get it back in the hands of the owner but I can't easily get to an Apple store, at least for a few days.
With the phone "locked", is there another way to contact the owner, dial an emergency number, etc.?
Thanks
As noted earlier in this thread, try ifoundyouriphone.com. A direct link to report a found iPhone is:

From their FAQ:
+I found an iPhone how do I report it?+
+If you found an iPhone, check for an ID at the bottom of the display after you power it on. It should be a 7 digit code followed by ´ID:´. If you cannot find an ID or the phone does not turn on then use the 11 digit serial number on the lower back of the phone. Once you have located the ID or the serial number go to our home page and click on the bottom tab that says, "If you found an iPhone Report it here". Follow the instructions on that page. Make sure if the phone has an ID on the display that you enter that first. If there is no ID then try using the serial number. If we cannot find the iPhone in our database, please try again at a later time the owner may soon register with us.+
