why wont my cds upload onto i-tunes?

I recently had to replace my harddrive and lost my entire i-tunes library ⚠ I am now trying to upload my cd collection back onto my new hard drive but most of my cds i try to load just eject themselves without even being recognised by itunes. Some do still load but even then they can take a long time. Any ideas what the problem might be? I now have Leopard. Many thanks

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Possibly a failing drive? Does this problem happen in a new os x user account as well?

I doubt the hdd failing and cd drive failing are related. Could just be a streak of bad luck 😟 I do recommend you create a new user in os x and see if the issue still happens. If it doesn't, this could mean that the drive is ok and that there's a corrupt preference in your main user. I'd know what troubleshooting to try out with you at that point.
