mms streams

mms streams

Has anybody had any luck with playing mms streaming video? I've never been able to do it (installed Flip4Mac and VLC Player but still no luck) so I've always had to resort to Parallels Desktop to play them on the PC but I'd love to be able to play them on the Mac. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Did you repair permissions after you installed Flip4Mac? I have no problems playing mms streams. However, I do use this FREE software called mmsStream as a backup. Comes w/detailed instructions. Make sure you read it prior to installing if you decide to use it & repair permissions afterwards.

Yep, repaired the disc permissions - perhaps it's the streams I'm using - I'll have to check the streams on the Mac to the Pc and see if they work.

I've tried downloading the mmsStream from the link you provided but it just says the page you're looking for could not be found?

Did you restart after repairing permissions?

Sorry about the bad mmsStream link. Even the one on Apple's website is dead!

Check the following & make sure your mms settings are correct:

System Preferences>Other>More Internet

Helpers By Protocol - Select mms. If it is not listed then you will need to add it by clicking on the Add button.

Next you select the "application" which in your case must be Flip4Mac.

I don't seem to have "More Internet" in the Other section of my System Prefs. Is this something to do with the mmsStream program? If so, I'll try to download that another day when their site is back up and running
