Alternative to "Back to my Mac"?

Hi,

What I've been looking for for a long time is basically "Back to my Mac", as in a way for me and others to always find eachothers computers, BUT I don't want everyone to have access to everything, whcih you do with "Back to my Mac".

So, is there a way to find a given Mac, like Back to my mac, but irestrict access as in the new file sharing system, with accounts, passwords etc??

Many thanks,
Richard

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but I use a program called Hamachi. It's free and it allows machines to act like they are on the same LAN no matter where you are, a VPN basically. I use it for a number of things and it works PC to MAC, PC to PC and MAC to MAC. It's great for doing remote desktop sharing with a PC (this is how I ran PC programs prior to the intel machines, it was much faster than virtual pc). Anyways hope it helps and it's very easy to use.

www.hamachi.cc is the software and there is a mac GUI at www.hamachix.com I use hamachi X.
