Leopard won't install on Core Duo - "Cannot be installed on this computer"

Hi,

I have a white MacBook 2GHz Intel and took from a friends black Macbook 2.2GHz Leopard DVD's to install since he will use a mac for Vista. When I try to install it I get a message "This software cannot be installed on this computer" !!! I was surfing on the net but this is usualy problem with old mac's but I cannot believe that my NB is not supported ?!?! Can anyone help ? Also, Apple Hardware Test from Leopard DVD's is giving the same message.

Are these the actual Leopard DVD's or are they the full "re-install" dvd set that came with his computer?

They are actual Leopard DVD's. MacBook Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and Install Disc 2, on first one is printed: Mac OS version 10.5, AHT version 3A137, Disc Version 1.1, 2Z691-6167-A.

You can't use those disks on your computer; they can only be used on the exact MacBook they were designed for.

No they are not. 10.5 OS/X install disks are universal. They will not mention MacBook on them. You can not use these CD's on another machine for two reasons: first they will not work. second: it was a license violation for them to be given to you.

I had this happen after an install glitch. I wasted a couple of hours and then discovered the trick is to ensure that the normal disk is chosen as the startup disk in System Preferences > Startup Disk
