iMovie HD

Can someone please explain the difference between iMovie HD and iMovie HD 6. I thought that iMovie HD started at iMovie 6.

iMHD5 and iMHD6 differ mainly in two things:
1) themes .. (which are now gone with iM08)
2) multiple windows .. in vers6 you're allowed to open two/many projects simultanously, which is very convenient, if you like to copy/paste clips from one project to another..

just a plea: try to be more descriptive in your topic line .. it is ALL about iMHD here.. 😉

Thank you Karsten

The reason for my confusion was that the "Forum list" shows HD and HD6; HD5 is not showing as such.

I am stil on 10.3.9 and iMovie 4 which I enjoy very much. I will get a MacPro shortly and will certainly call for iMovie 6; from what I've read, iMovie 8 is not for me. I'd like to investigate Final Cut, but feel a bit intimidated by it. iMovie 4 does just about everything I want to do.

I do agree with the KISS principle. I believe in producing the best quality images and sounds one can achieve , edited together "simply" ( I am a keen photographer and sound recordist) . Tricks and special effects do not make up for poor quality sounds and images. But then, each is own of course !

Tks again

your new Mac will have preinstalled iM08/iLife08, but you're then entitled for a free download of iMHD6 here:

the new price of FCE is 'luring', but the learning curve is really, I mean really steam ...

.. yepp, the numbering and naming scheme IS confusing.. 'iMHD' means here at the board vers.5, and iMovie '08 means vers.7 .. LOL
