iphone to play mp3 over car speakers

Most FM transmitters do not work with the iPhone, but this one does. The DLO TransDock Micro. It performs as well as the FM transmitter I had for my iPod. And unlike the Griffin iTrip, it includes a charger to keep the phone fully juiced as you listen to it.

there are a few different ways to plug it into your car. First would be a fm tuner that broadcasts the music over a unused fm station to your radio. Second and i think the best way is if you have an aux port in you car stereo. I have one of these in my truck. I use a standard 3.5 headphone cord to plug into the front of it with the shure adapter to plug into my iphone. As a bonus it makes my iphone hands free when driving as i can clip the mike to my seatbelt and the sound will play out of the car speakers. As far as a holder i am not sure what is offered but my cupholders happen to be perfect size to hold my iphone inside its sleeve.

I have the iGrip universal cigarette one and it is awesome. Padded to keep the iPhone unscratched.

I plug mine into my Alpine HU by way of the KCE 420i ipod adaptor, I used to use it for my ipod in the glove box but now I use it with my iphone I have ordered a Brodit holder from http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/Apple+iPhone-Brodit-Holder.asp. It should arrive Tuesday so I'll report back then.

How does the TransDock Micro work with telephone calls?

I have purchased two different car tuners already and neither of them work for the Iphone. I am going to try the DLO Transdock Micro per your suggestion.

Recent model BMWs support the iPhone (in iPod mode) via the docking connector. Songs then show up on the BMW screen and play through the audio system. The BMW will also connect via Bluetooth to the iPhone for phone functions including downloading the iPhone address book.

I don't have a BMW myself but the Chairman of our company does (and uses his iPhone with it).

It is a bit silly and annoying that the phone functions of the iPhone will not work via the docking connector (hence also needing to use Bluetooth). It is also annoying that you cannot use the iPhone as a GPRS modem for GPS devices like the TomTom or Garmin (to get traffic updates). My Chairman's BMW has a built-in GPS system so he does not see this problem.

I have a 3 in 1 Car Kit for Ipod, cigarette lighter holder. Great for holding IPhone right up front, charges the phone but won't play over the car speakers. Tested this with Ipod and does work, so the difference is in the Iphone itself. Is there a setting on the IPhone to get it to play over the car speakers?

Why? This is nuts... I have a radio transmitter I've used with the last couple of generations of iPods (plugging into the earphone plug) that has served me well and now i have to get a new one?
